A new Topic, "Speech Loss and Dementia" was added to assist with communication in dementia, including speech loss, reverting back to a person’s mother-tongue, and more.
A new Topic, "Hearing Loss and Dementia" was added to help manage hearing loss, including its unique relationship with dementia and more.
A new Topic, "Vision and Sight Loss with Dementia" was added to provide suggestions for managing declining vision, including aids, technology, and tools.
Two new Sections on social support and community engagement were added under the Topic, "Healthy Living and Aging for the Person” and Looking at the carer’s health and well-being”.

New Topic "Speech loss and dementia"
Communication can already be challenging with dementia, and if the person loses the ability to speak, it can be even more difficult. It can lead to frustration for everyone, trigger daily challenges or changed behaviors, worsen quality of life and more.
There are care strategies to help, including non-verbal strategies, working with a speech pathologist, reverting back to the person's mother tongue and more.

New Topic "Vision and sight loss and dementia"
Vision loss can seriously impact anyone's life, let alone someone living with dementia. It can cause confusion for the person, trigger daily challenges or changed behaviors, worsen quality of life and more.
There are care strategies to help, including coping strategies, getting help from vision loss services and optometrists, a link to hallucination and the environment, and more.

New Sections on social support and community engagement
Finding a dementia-specific social support group is essential for the person's social connection and community engagement, and the carer's respite. We have curated a list of starting points for you to find a suitable one in your local area, including online, in person, early stage and later stages of dementia.
This new section is called "Social support and groups for the person" and is located under the Topic "Healthy living and aging for the person."
We have also curated a similar section for the carer called "Remain social and connected to others on the carer journey" under the Topic "Looking after the carer's health and well-being."
